On July 24, 2025, Troop 777 in West Hills celebrated it’s first Eagle Scout with a special Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Riley Larson.
Riley truly represented the troop’s motto of “From Lion to Eagle” having been part of the Cub Scouts with 777 and then being part of the founding group for troop 777. While doing the Disability Awareness Merit Badge, Riley connected with Ride On, a place specializing in therapeutic horsemanship. As per their website, “Ride On teaches adaptive horseback riding to children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. We also provide physical, occupational, & speech and language therapy, specializing in using the movement of the horse to improve specific medical conditions.” The mission of this place captivated Riley, who likes horses, and it motivated him to continue to volunteer with them almost weekly for a couple of years. It was just fitting that Riley chose Ride On to complete his Eagle Project. Riley writes, “My plan was to build a horse turnout pen, remove crossties and reinstall crossties, and move to another location. Make 2 interactive games for horseback riders to use during lessons and cue cards to communicate with a nonverbal student.” Riley’s Eagle Rank achievement was marked by many congratulatory letters from the Office of the Governor, National Park Service, NASA, US Fish and Wildlife, Microsoft, Lego, Hershey’s, Menchie’s, Nintendo, and many more.
Congratulations, Riley! Job well done!
